Bio
Elizabeth Robbins is a multi-disciplinary artist exploring the emotions that drone on beneath the surface. Using primarily oil paint and focusing on human flesh she conceptualizes how emotion rises to the surface and becomes something external. Exploring other mediums such as printmaking and illustration allow her to examine what it is about art that creates a spiritual connection to the viewer. Elizabeth has received her AA in Fine Art from Central Arizona College and is currently pursuing a BA in Fine art and a BA in art history at Colorado Mesa University.
Artist’s Statement
My work explores the moments where emotion becomes ambient, unspoken. I paint with a sensitivity to atmosphere and color in an attempt to create work that holds lingering feelings. I enjoy exploring the subtle shifts that seem inconsequential but add up to something greater. By focusing on primarily human and other organic forms I can capture how complex, neatly wound emotions reside within the world. Through my process of painting, printmaking, and everything beyond that, I get to entomb my feelings and my memories and lay them to rest.
